Uh Oh. DLB and I are way off. And I don't think I'm squaring with his objection to your drawing.
Are there different versions of the conical sanding disk?

Re: Conical sanding disk thickness
This was a bit beyond the capacity of my longest calipers, so take this with a grain of salt, but I measure 1/2 inch.

Re: DC3300 suction power?
Since you used the same size hose, I have to admit my objection is no longer valid.
I don't know if there's anything else we're missing, any other variables. Compressability of air? Seems like I'm grasping at straws now. I want the answer to be different, but that's not good enough.

Re: DC3300 suction power?
I don't think an anemometer is a good measure of airflow. Speed of airflow, sure. But, the anemometer ignores how much air is being moved. Kind of the difference between voltage and current. I can blow through a straw at, say, 10 mph. But, I can't come close to the airflow of your screened-in porch ...

Re: Proplaner speed issue
I have no real advice to offer you, but I wonder if your unit is stuck on slow speed, fast speed, or something in between. If slow speed, it might not be too difficult to simply live with it.
I also wonder if your Shopsmith Pro Planer was modified to run on UK voltage.

Re: Its only money ????
I saw an article somewhere laying out various complicated reasons for the sudden spike in prices. Sawmill capacity seems to be the controlling factor. There was a reduction in sawmills due to previous declines in demand. Now that demand has increased sawmills aren't being re-opened quickly. 1. New s...

Re: Shopsmith Mark 5 What When and Where
The federal government fiscal year started on 01 October only as far back as 1976. Before then it started on 01 July.
In my previous life as a US government bureaucrat, I came across lots of government contractors whose fiscal years started 01 July long after the feds changed to October.

Re: Comfortable using the table saw?
If you have a fair amount of experience with a typical table saw, your muscle memory is yelling at you. Table saws are always a little scary, so the muscle memory thing is especially disconcerting.
As you get used to the Shopsmith you'll develop new muscle memory. It'll get better.
