Re: Bandsaw trouble shooting
Yea- I think there is some definition clarity needed. 1. Wheel- hard metal circle 2. Tires - generally 2 types available from SS. These mount first onto the wheel with some adhesive. https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/bandsawtire.htm There's the black material, and the "red" ureth...

Oops - and a new project
I was ripping some narrow material and got a kickback. Just taking a narrow strip off the edge of a board. Of course I didn't see exactly what happened, but based on the ZCI damage, I think the board lifted at the back and was then promptly fired, angled down into the ZCI and blew the hole in it. Ha...

Re: it isnt often that we have a chance to say thank you
Looking at your thermometer outside your window for a couple years doesn't tell you anything about the global average. Just because its sunny and 75 outside your door, doesn't mean the whole planet is sunny and 75. There is plenty of verifiable data from reputable sources supporting the observation ...

Re: Pocket Holes without a jig?
As usual, I do a bunch of digging and end up going in a different direction. I ordered this one...which seems to have a lot of the features of those above at a lower price point with some added benefits. https://masscaproducts.com/ 1. Aluminum body rather than plastic 2. USA made-small family run bu...

Re: Pocket Holes without a jig?
The Kreg systems seem quite popular. I have come across 2 others which seem to get good reviews. Porter Cable 560-which if you follow the link-has been discontinued. https://www.portercable.com/products/power-tools/woodworking-tools/dovetail-and-fastening/quikjig-pockethole-joinery-system/560 And th...

Pocket Holes without a jig?
I know I saw a thread using the table tilt and horizontal drilling to setup pocket holes. But- how does this compare to getting something like a Kreg R3 jig? The jig seems like it might be faster, but it is limited to 1 1/2 " board thicknesses whereas the SS should be more flexible but likely s...

Re: Do you want a potpourri or are you driving?
Oh - my day job is in light/lighting .
This device is unique and is a first attempt at doing something thats not currently being done in the LED lighting market.
Just something I'm working on in my spare time.
Thanks for liking the design !

Re: Do you want a potpourri or are you driving?
The thread says "unrelated to woodworking"..well I can say this is unrelated, but I still used the Shopsmith as a base for assembly operations ! It worked well as a solder and grounded assembly station. Its a home designed PAR38 narrow beam LED lamp. lamp.jpg After assembly-starting to loo...
