Re: Anyone tried Alexa in the shop?

I could see how lighting control would be fairly simple using WiFi outlets and even WiFi bulbs. Create grids, naming conventions and even mood lighting :p . However, much has been written about the system’s inability to distinguish voices (human in the room from those on TV programs) and not underst...

Re: Walmart's Latest. . .Scam?

I doubt it. If even Sam's employees get them and some friends in Texas I think this is just their latest unethical gimmick. Anything to stave off Amazon (Walmart) and Costco. I think you just made a typo, but for clarification, unless something has drastically changed, Sam’s Club is owned by ...

Re: Saying goodbye to an old friend

Last Spring I went with a friend to Bellingham to pick up a “scratched” 605x. HUGE beast. They loaded the bigger boxes for us but we need much stronger backs to get it out. He bought the sliding table to go with it. From what I understood, every year they have a first come first served “scratch and ...

Re: Powerpro as shaper for beaded face frames and rabbets

You don’t mention if you have a 220v outlet available, but if you do, I would advise running the PowerPro at 220. I think you will find the added HP helps with single pass stock removal, especially with the hardwoods.

Be well,
Ben

Re: 1 5/8 hole in end grain

A good friend has Forstner bits that have a wavy?? roller coaster like outside edge. His grandson got them for him in Germany (stationed there). I presume they are pricey but dang they cut nice. :p :D . They don’t wander in end grain AT ALL!! and make a very smooth side cut. Not sure how ...

Re: New blade for CSMS

On the recommendation of a good friend I bought a Tenyru for my Hitachi 12” chop saw. It is less expensive than the one Gene recommends so probably a lower tier by the same company (I bought one called the Silencer 100 tooth - it has a blue non-stick coating.). I tend to switch out blades depending ...

Re: Power pro on 220

I run mine on 240v (use an adapted 12 gauge extension cord because I didn’t want to cut off the existing plug and plan to use it at another location that only has 120v). The few times I’ve noticed that the increased capability was drilling large bore holes (2 - 1/2 spade bit and some dull 1-1/4 Fors...
