Re: Using an Incra miter gauge to set the angle on the Shopsmith miter gauge

Clever idea and super useful I can see for setting those angles not covered by drafting triangles or the Miter Set. Here is another idea to get the job done. Using this angle gauge and a sliding bevel to set the miter gauge.

Re: Glue-joining of Cutoff Pieces for Lumber Recovery

The end-grain butt joint starts at 4:13, but you should watch it all if you haven't seen it. https://youtu.be/Wmw5rayNIV4?si=iNGJ7neF1Q67tC0Z Interesting video...sort of a myth busters about the strength of end grain glue joints. This may be another one of those long held notions, sort of like the ...

Re: What have you purchased from Shopsmith recently?

My order list goes clear back to '94, but as has been already noted, from 2018 on every order is posted twice. 29 years worth of orders...makes a pretty impressive string of orders, even when the doubled ones are removed. I don't think I want to add them all up.

Bearing replacement kit for the bandsaw. Runs much quieter now. Also new bandsaw tires which I have not tried yet.

IMHO of course he should stay. I agree with Roy...RFGuy has posted his opinions, expressed clearly and honestly, and if they cause others to rethink some long-cherished notions, well that's a good thing in my book.

Re: Glue-joining of Cutoff Pieces for Lumber Recovery

Ed, not sure which sort of scarf joint would work. See attached illustration. Which one did you have in mind? Looks like if I took two scraps and joined them with a scarf, I would wind up with a piece not much longer than the original scraps. Lots of glued area however... Steve... What I was thinki...
