carbide blade sharping experiance?

Hello, Can anyone recommend a company for sharpening a carbide tip saw blade? I have numerous good to very good quality carbide blades that have seen a lot of use. I'm tired of buying new, and would prefer to sharpen. There is another similar thread from earlier that mentions "Total saw solutio...

Use of Sanding disk as a faceplate?

Hello,
Has anyone tried using a shopsmith sanding disc as a faceplate for turning? The disk can certainly rotate safely at high speed, and stand a significant side load. As a faceplate, I would certainly be turning at slow speeds for a large bowl or plate.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Bill, Perfect! Sounds like it is worth a try. I saw a previous post of yours about the dowel & lumpy glue, so I'll use the 77 spray. Use if for many things, but have to be careful about over-spray. Bob, I'll check the measurement when I get them off. Bought them through shopsmith just a couple m...

Urethane Bandsaw tires & glue

Howdy! A couple months ago I installed the urethane tires on my "new" shopsmith bandsaw. They worked great for a few days, but last evening, the bottom started working it's way off the front of the lower wheel. I re-positioned them, and the same thing happened. I have not had this problem ...

RAS Manual

Oh! Pick me! Pick me! I have a late 60's or early 70's Craftsman RAS, and could use a manual. Sure would be great to have the instructions on adjustment and tuning. If still available, I would be happy to pay the postage as you offer. What is the best method for coordinating this? Thank you, Seahawk

Traditional wood vice fan

I am very fond of a traditional wood vice, and use the dogs extensively for my projects. If you are like many of us, your workbench will also be used for many things other than fine woodworking, and you will clamp all sorts of stuff in your vice, i.e. pipe, threaded rod, ax head, handle, or rusty ch...

Tying to understand the issue

Do I understand correctly that this jig is needed because your carriage slips down the tubes when you are drilling? The carriage on my shopsmith does not slide, even when mortising. Could that be because I have a 500, or because my tubes are a bit "rough" (not polished)?
Thanks!

like my UTR and speed reducer

I am very pleased with my UTR, as well as a speed reducer to turn bowls. Much easier than stock to to put the rest where you want it. It is a bit of work to mount and store, but turning is not normally something I normally do in the middle of complex project, so once mounted, it is on for a while. M...

No luck

JPG, Thanks, and yes, those are the blade holders. One of my settings did have the blade against the end, and I tried with the teeth pointed both directions. No difference. I have also been using the alignment slots in the back of the table to hold & align. I'm begining to think I have a bad bat...
