Re: R. J. DeCristoforo

Interesting! Yes, I knew that RJ lived in Los Altos Hills, one of the most exclusive towns in Santa Clara valley. I grew up in Sunnyvale, a working-class city. (Last time my family's house went on the market, over a MILLION Dollars. Some working-class neighborhood.) They paid 24 or 27 thousand for t...

Re: What is this?

Water quality in this area is excellent. There was never a good reason for installing a water conditioner. When this development was first marketed (2006), water conditioners were installed throughout the development by the developer. The water conditioner that you saw in the photo was not even ope...

Re: YouTube Videos featuring Shopsmiths

Everett needs to weigh in on the plate discrepancy (10E vs 10ER). I think we discussed this before but I can't remember now. I spent 8 hours on the flight line at the Hill AFB Air Show today and I am a bit wiped out. :D  I'd KILL for 8 hours on an airshow flightline. But, I've spent a few days...

Re: YouTube Videos featuring Shopsmiths

My first Model 10 was a 10 E. Serial number was R24996. OK, that was in 1985 (ish) and I STILL remember the ser. It came with most of the 10 E parts, extension table bracket, short rip fence, but also had the newer stuff. Later table tilt trunnion, ER expansion table and later depth and quill gauges...

Re: More Shopsmith History and some more questions....

Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Berkley and Oakland are ALL
different cities. Menlo park and Palo Alto are next to
each other, but in different counties.

And then, there Los Altos Hills, where R.J. Decristiforo
lived, at the end. Close to PA and MP.

Re: Hey, Dusty

This last week I spent about 2 hours on three different days working in the farm shop just sorting hand tools and other bits and pieces that I largely acquired this last year. I probably moved about 300 items each of the three days and even I can barely tell that anything has been moved to a proper...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

It certainly does say Shopsmith but I don't ever remember seeing Shopsmith use two lines and a single S for their name. Can anyone confirm that it is this Shopsmith or not? Look at JPeG's avatar. That is the classic ShopSmith logo. steve Mark VII vintage. JPG, yours is off the MK-VII, but that logo...

Re: Sheet metal labeled "weldable"

I stopped by the hardware store to get some sheet metal, I was thinking galvanized but as things go the size I wanted was not in stock. They did have a sheet of this metal they had labeled "weldable" stock. To me it looks like just plain old cold rolled steel. I guess it is weldable stock...
