Re: 2020 Rating

It was a matter of prospective, if you were not effected then 2020 was not so bad, but if you lost a loved one to Covid or dealt with the disease yourself it was pretty awful. Personally I did not enjoy 2020. I lost a brother to the disease, I watched my daughter a Hospice nurse agonize over insurin...

Re: 99 Reasons You Should Never Buy a Shopsmith & 1 Reason Why You Should!

Its funny- I had come across that bear recently while looking at something unrelated to Shopsmith. I couldn't focus on the content because that stupid bear and its poorly done voice-over matching kept drawing my attention. I concluded then that I would avoid the bear in the future. Now, I have yet ...

New Shopsmith specific YouTube program

I am sure many will object to the video that is expected but toward the end he shows some interesting ideas on modifying the SS.

Re: Today's nature video

These are nice! thank you I had a walk-about lately; my picture is modest. But as a woodworker it's fascinating. The town has a number of buckled-up sidewalk slabs that have been "beveled down" by a tool or method I don't yet know. Looks like something done with a precision router-sled or...

Re: Saw Shield

I would love to see a test of any of these “protection devices” by dropping a hot dog ONTO the spinning blade. I believe there are many saw injuries where the user feed his hand into the blade. However I think the highest percentage of injuries occur when the users hand falls onto the blade, due to ...

Re: A view on alignment of the shopsmith.

To quote Ed Reible above “ Now comes the burn. Lean on the main table..........” AMEN! I am convinced that you can align the Shopsmith to .0001 tolerance and then lay your hand on the table and completely change the alignment. Further while I many of you may question my craftsmanship I could never b...

Re: Ripping Thick Material (Butcherblock Countertop)

With a half decent blade and a properly adjusted machine the Shopsmith will easily cut through this. Make sure you have the blade height adjusted properly and double check all the locks. Your biggest problem is handling the weight of the top. If you do not make provision for in-feed and out feed sup...

Re: Parallel Extension Tables

Didn't Nick do a video on this issue? I know that once I went to the 520 I was able to switch the extension table to either end of the machine. However this requires the 520 to be aligned anytime I move the machine, push on the main table with enough force to move the machine(while up on wheels). Th...

Re: Today's nature video

You should check out Lumnah Acres channel the maker of this channel just bought 500 acres in New Hampshire. He has been fighting Beavers since the start. Apparently they want to build their dam in areas that will flood out his access roads. In the linked video he visits two abandoned areas that hold...
