Dave, More compliments from here! Also I recall you said you work in HVAC. You must be a very conscientious worker. [I had to fix my house's blower fan all of a sudden late last night. It looked like the last house owner tried to put oil in the fan-retaining screw, and no oil in the bearings! Not go...

Cool Blocks vs. Normal ones

Hi All, I've been toying with whether to buy & experiment with different blade guides on the bandsaw. I'm just thinking about differing types of block-guides for now, no rollers or other exotic ideas. What are your experiences with Cool Blocks or Ceramic blocks? And do you use primarily >=1/2&qu...

Gents, Thanks for the reports. I lusted after a Sand Flee at the Owners Weekend visit I made in July. Couldn't come up with the bucks yet but I did make a "Sand Almost Free" a la the old reible posting. So mine has a 6" sanding drum which is about to the point that I'd want a bearing ...

Thanks Drew,

Looking great! Can't wait to see that maple after finishing.

Also, what's the story on your acoustic? Is the dreadnought you made 15 years ago the same one heard on the Sessions?

Guitars, please

hello,

I've seen guitar-building mentioned by drew and by hobbyist. Can you share more, with photos perhaps? And is this the same guitar from the Sawdust Sessions?

thanks,

John,

That's a super charging station. Something nice to blend high-tech and old-time craftsmanship. Good job!

Jim, I think you can drill as you mentioned but it's good to have your workpiece clamped to the table when doing so. Another idea is to get a 510/520 type of machine with T-slots in the miter slots, then you can use the nifty "vice on the table" to hold the workpiece: http://www.shopsmith....

So THAT's what's wrong with my old miter bar

Wow,

Good point on the threads inside the miter-bar. On looking I see my oldest one is pretty butchered inside.... I just ordered a new bar and the OEM tapered screws as well.

thanks,
