Re: Overarm Pin Router Table

I have had an overarm for 25 years. My thought was it does not take up any more space than a router table so why not. I have used it for all sorts of operations. One project is the Family Traditions Pony Rocking horse that Shopsmith sales. I have pattern jigs and cut out all the profiles with it. Th...

Re: Gliding home for Christmas

Do we get to see a four-generation photo after Christmas? :) How is the curved back made? I couldn't see any laminations, but it looks pretty large for cutting (the arc) on a SS bandsaw. The back is made from a top, bottom, and 2 side pieces. Each piece is cut on the bandsaw using a using a circle ...

Gliding home for Christmas

My dad wanted to make his great granddaughter a Christmas present. He turned 90 this year and enlisted my help since he has become a little unsteady. We decided to make the Shopsmith Childs Glider. With the exception of hand tools we made the entire chair with his 35 year-old shopsmith and attachmen...

Re: Things to look for in a SS jointer

The Shopsmith belt sander is the best I have used. I sold woodworking tools for many years and the SS is the best.

Re: Should I buy a shop Smith?

A resounding yes you should by a Shopsmith. Evan if I had all the space I wanted for a shop and any choice of tools I would still have a Shopsmith. There is so much you can do with these machines and the quality is excellent. If you don't want to buy new you should be able to find one on craigslist ...

Re: Should I buy a shop Smith?

http://dayton.craigslist.org/tls/5356681881.html Hi Tylor83, I live in the Columbus area. I've been monitoring Shopsmith stuff on Craigslist daily for several years, and Dayton postings show up on Columbus searches even if I don't expand the search area. So I'm pretty familiar with your local marke...

Re: PowerPro Woes...

If I am missing something it appears the quill can be removed and switched with his other quill to test it out. Sue was quoted saying to loosen the quill retaining screw on the top to help the retraction issue. If you can do that you can remove the quill without warranty implications I would think. ...

Re: SS bar clamps

They do work really well, I agree. I have used them for years also and they make panel glue up go much easier. I have always taped wax paper on the bars to keep them from becoming part of the glue up, but it is a bit of a pita to cut and tape the wax paper. I think I like the idea of the painters t...

Re: SS bar clamps

I have used the double bar clamps for over 25 years. I have not found anything better for panels. One thing I have found helpful is to either wax the bars or now I have started to use painters tape on them to keep them clean from glue. They are the only ones I know that have a slight curvature to th...

Re: Jointmatic height adjustment

I use my jointmatic all the time. Mine cracked by over tightening locking knob. I made repair with super glue and then JB Weld over the top. I made repair years ago and still holding. I use mine for small box joints. If you have one you will find uses for it. One thing I found is the dust collection...
