Re: Woodworking apron
Although I don't yet have one, not really an apron wearer, I like the design of the Jonathan Katz-Moses canvas apron.

Re: Bing AI Chat Bot Shopsmith Poem
A limerick from Bard:
There once was a tool named Shopsmith,
It could do many a thing,
It could cut, saw, and drill,
And even sand and file,
A true craftsman's dream, it was king.

Re: Bing AI Chat Bot Shopsmith Poem
I asked Bard (Google's AI) to write a couple haikus. The first was so-so, the second better.
One machine, many uses
A true craftsman's delight
The Shopsmith is here

A true craftsman's delight
The Shopsmith is here

Re: German child's chair copies
SASman, congrats on reproducing the chairs. It looks like you did a great job on getting them right. I have to wonder how comfortable they are. I suppose by only having one leg at front that the child can easier put their feet back under the seat.

Re: Need a shorter lathe tool rest
Rick Harrell on Penturners.org does custom steel tool posts and rests, to include for Shopsmith. I've bought some other custom work from him once and can verify that he does very nice work, is great at communicating, and in my case at least was very quick. Note that the posts and tool rests are sepa...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
This looks too good to be true. I'm seriously tempted to go get it. $100 - Mark V - looks cleans, comes with joiner and belt sander https://boston.craigslist.org/nos/tls/d/north-reading-shop-smith-mark/7604737712.html Can rarely find either a belt sander or jointer for that, let alone the 500. That...

Re: Did you see the ChopSmith?
Hmm, I may have to see if this is an option for my new Makita battery 10" SMS. I think it may be larger than the Wen and almost assuredly heavier. If my saw would fit easily, this could be a better option than some of my other vague ideas.

Re: Which way do you turn your SPT lock handles?
I am curious if the suggestion included reversal for opposing ends of the SS. JPG, both handles are configured to tighten/loosen the same way when you are at the end of the machine, I *think* it was down to tighten/up to loosen. Maybe it was mentioned to "tighten it down" and "loosen...

Re: 510 Shutting Down
Thanks guys, blade was the problem. Cutting like a dream again. Depending on the old/dull blade type, you might look into getting it resharpened to save from buying a new blade in the future. If it's an inexpensive blade to start with, something that costs around $1 or so per tooth, a sharpening se...

Re: Which way do you turn your SPT lock handles?
I usually turn them the wrong way. :D I took a class through the Traveling Academy, probably in the last couple years that it was being held. The instructor suggested a method, I can't remember if it was front up or down to tighten as you looked at it from the end of the machine. Made sense, I did t...
