Re: Shorty Drill Press not perpendicular to floor, any ideas?

If you unlock it will the way tube assembly go all the way back to the point you want? Is something preventing it from moving that far besides the lock?

If you want the upright and spindle perfectly vertical you could shim the legs.

Yes, it's found with all the other exploded drawings on the Parts and Service Page: http://shopsmith.com/service/mark/index.htm

It's in the column for Mark V Model 500 column: http://shopsmith.com/service/mark/500_f ... iagram.htm

Re: New Shopsmith Mark 4

Its been a while since I looked to see what is included, but that same $4199 will get you a 520. The most obvious differences are that the 520 includes the 'extension table package' but the 520S appears to include Double Tilt. I noted later that the $4199 price includes the extension tables, so it ...

Re: New Shopsmith Mark 4

Ok, hang on. The deal for $4199 includes all the function packages and the table extensions. So that makes it the same as a Model 520, and $4199 is the price of a Model 520, yet they are saying you save $165 from the total cost of $4364 if you bought a 520S and all it's packages together instead of ...

Re: New Shopsmith Mark 4

The S stands for Not Short. So this is the Mark 4 in full length plus an extension table, and the upper and lower saw guards. That's right, you can't use it as a table saw without buying something else, but you will have the guards. Maybe they'll do this on the little one too, it's quite easy for so...

Re: New Shopsmith Mark 4

When I acquired my first Shopsmith way back when I didn't know a lot about it. I wasn't clear what all the functions were but I did know one function was a table saw and that was the most expensive tool I needed at the time. If I was starting out right now and looking at a new machine I'd be disappo...

New Shopsmith Mark 4

It's sort of a Model 520 shorty for $2778. It's 55" long, comes with no accessories and no extension table or floating tables. It does appear to have double tilt. Want to do anything at all with it and you need to buy more parts. There are packages available for the original 5 configurations, t...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

Here's a pretty good deal if you want the accessories it comes with, especially the Ring Master and Belt Sander. $400 is a fair price although I'd try to talk it down: https://syracuse.craigslist.org/tls/d/fayetteville-shopsmith-mark/7376011908.html I was going to show a fantastic deal, a noce looki...

Re: Glue Joint Myths

Being new to woodworking, I’m curious to know how and if time would affect his joint tests. Would the movement of wood (expansion/contraction) affect the glue bonding over the years? I would expect there might be some impact on the end-to-end joint since there is more movement there. Or do you thin...
