Looks great, Chris! 5 years ago at our previous house, I got some metal-grid-type garage-ceiling shelves that attached with lag-bolts. They were pretty good for organizing the garage. I got a spare lawn-mower up into one of them and it "hung around" for some time until we moved to the next...

Hi, I don't know when the "Summer Sale" ends, but you will be fine ordering your Quill either way you have listed. So, order the lower-cost way if they still have it. Seems like I went through this a few months ago, and the only difference is that one of the ordering methods (the "upg...

Cincinnati: Does this also coincide with the introduction of "Metal" in the Sawdust Sessions?

[not a big enthusiast but I think I know what you're referring to]

re: 500 discontinued parts

I looked at the page briefly and it really didn't seem like actual model-500 parts listed there. Trunnions didn't match 500 p/n's, listed belts seemed strange, and so on. Maybe it was for a Crafter Station or something?

Yes, I too hate to drill into these pristine tables, but they're built to take it. My 510 has holes on the aux-table for the Sharpening Jig. My 500 has a couple extra holes I put in the main-table for a 510-style Shaper Fence. But now I've acquired a genuine 500-shaper-fence after all. Shopsmith is ...

I don't have one yet, but I think "reible" (who is still active on ssug.org) may have one and had mentioned liking it (?).

Dave, More compliments from here! Also I recall you said you work in HVAC. You must be a very conscientious worker. [I had to fix my house's blower fan all of a sudden late last night. It looked like the last house owner tried to put oil in the fan-retaining screw, and no oil in the bearings! Not go...

Cool Blocks vs. Normal ones

Hi All, I've been toying with whether to buy & experiment with different blade guides on the bandsaw. I'm just thinking about differing types of block-guides for now, no rollers or other exotic ideas. What are your experiences with Cool Blocks or Ceramic blocks? And do you use primarily >=1/2&qu...
