Re: Safest way to remove light rust spots on bandsaw table?
I have tried Evaporust and other stuff. The cheapest and best I've found is Barkeeper's Friend (make a soft paste - thicker than slurry) and rub it on with a cloth and then off. I easily turned black way tubes to silver. I keep a small plastic container in the cabinet under the SS for easy access.

Re: Selling Shopsmith Shop
Cash only and don't accept anything larger than $20 bills. Find out where the nearest bank is and tell buyers with larger bills where it is, how to get there and to bring back $20 bills. Some won't ever be back. This is also a Craigslist scam for passing counterfeit. Or buy one of those pens that ch...

Re: Adding vacuum hose to upper saw blade cover
SteveBboss did miss the poin - "That’s ok, it’s not necessary that you understand my attitude. It’s MY attitude, I’m the only one who needs to understand it. What if Shark Guard was $1000? Then you’d understand my attitude. We just have different price levels at which that attitude kicks in, ge...

Re: Match for current SS gray paint?
I repainted the legs on a 510 about 10 years ago using Rustoleum Primer. That's right PRIMER. It matched the rest of the SS

If you do this, take pictures of progress and do not post them anywhere. When it works patent it. You can always modify/improve your design but no one can use it.
Then you can post it here.

Another thing you can use is oxalic acid. Add it to water, stir and soak the parts. Don't use a power tool with a brush as it creates fumes you do not want to breathe. This is the main ingredient in Barkeeper's Friend. I created a paste to remove black rust from way tubes as well as red/brown rust f...

Re: Black Plastic Bandsaw Knobs
If you are just wanting to replace the knobs and don't care about SS brand find out what size it is bu screwing a nut on. Take that to HD or ACE, etc. to find out what size knob you need. You may find some at ACE and you certainly will find many online. Probably cheaper, faster and better than order...

Re: SC Johnson Paste Wax
"It seems to me that Johnson's wax isn't worth the cost or hassle of keeping it in usable condition." I don't understand that statement. I bought a can of JPW in 1956 and finally ran out about 10-15 years ago. It was always good. The replacement is still the same. Just kept it in an enviro...

The Lady Made an Offer I Couldn’t Refuse
Everything was complete, clean with no scuff marks or signs of wear (except the pulley at the top). Even the 1995 Instruction Manual and the miter gage. I did some disassembly to blow out ancient dust and wipe things down. “I’ll let you have it for $20.” This is a Model 31-080 1” Belt / 5” Disc Sand...

Well, maybe not a different computer. This happens to me on some websites because I block cookies, and other junk. I'm not sure why but think it might be NoScript as they update it. I use Firefox and several add ons.
