Re: Hoping to clear up a misperception

So you guys all had interstellar technology in hand and decided on Shopsmith? I'm not buying it.

Re: WHERE Y'ALL AT???

I thought i posted on this thread already but I don't see it. Anyways- I've been wasting time on an electronics project..far afield from Woodworking...but it did require me to get this super cool mini drill press. I'm drilling 0.5mm holes in metals, doin circuit board designs, trying to understand b...

Re: Should we be concerned?

I wouldn't worry too much. If the SS line finally goes the way of the dodo and support becomes non-existent, you may be forced to invest in separate tools and use the SS for some dedicated purpose. Afterall-what can you do about it anyway ? You can pre-empt such an outcome by stocking up on expected...

Re: Shopsmith 8" Jointer Idea???

There is a disconnect here. Shopsmith had sold a lot of tools over the years, but there's only like 5-10 people on these forums who actively contribute. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I equate forum contributors as representative of "active users" of the tools. If true, market share is non-existen...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner

It will be interesting to watch which way this thing breaks. From an M+A viewpoint , I'm hard pressed to imagine what assets are sellable aside from inventory. I'd guess the IP is all past 17 yrs now. Does the factory physically make stuff like way tubes, mechanical support structures or is it more ...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner

I didn't watch the whole video but given the pieces i did hear, it sounds rather bleak at the moment. There are a ton of base units with working motors on them out there already though. If i understand the sensitivity to "shipping" heavy units, and the idea of accessorizing...perhaps the g...

Re: Cutting angled box sides

As separate pieces, you could rig a slight tilt angle on a sled to go thru a planer and slowly work your way thru the material depth.
If they are already glued up, bandsaw would be my choice.

If I were any good with a hand plane-i would say that too :)

Ah I see- thanks ! It does work-I'm not advocating for a change- just curious :)

Re: vertical lock screw doesn't aline to recess in drill press mode

Not sure I understand that argument about interference- wouldn't a thru-hole pin do the same thing?
