I should have thought of that. In these days of call centers in India, I sometimes forget about the exceptional service shopsmith provides.

Outfeed Table

I passed a garage sale yesterday, and a shopsmith box leaning against a table caught my eye. Returning, I found a new outfeed table still in the box. The lady said it was delivered to her home a year ago. She didn’t order it. She didn’t even know what it was. Nobody ever came to claim it, so she set...

Hi Ed, Thanks for the info. I will investigate those mills. My father and mother are from Davidsville. I am somehow related to Hostetlers on my mother’s side. She was a Saylor. I lived in Holsopple back in the early 80’s. Then I moved off to the big city. Returned to live in Meyersdale in 07. We had...

When I got my first dialup internet account way back in 1990, the service provider assigned me the login of kablerj because my last name is Kabler, and my first name is James. In a effort to keep things simple, every time I was asked to pick a user name, I picked kablerj. In 1992 I started hanging o...

Thanks rjent. I didn’t know Nick had a web site.

I didn’t know you could buy oak, cherry, etc at the home improvement stores. I thought they were all pine and plywood.

Is it more cost efficient to buy rough lumber and plane it to size?

Hi all, My name is Jim, and I live in Somerset County PA, which borders MD just east of Pittsburgh. Please comment if you live nearby. I have been wanting a Shopsmith since I was 19 years old, way back in 1980, but there was always an issue of money at first, and then time. Finally I am retired and ...
