I posted this on the Shopsmith woodworkers welcome group on facebook: "It's a interesting notion. It would defiantly keep the spring from being completely collapsed, and not loosing full rebound over time."

I'm not sure Shopsmith will celebrate this anniversary at all. When they came out with the 50th Anniversary edition Mark 5's around 2003. I would guess that was to celebrate the 50th. anniversary of the Mark V. That would indicate to me that they may not consider anything before the introduction of ...

David, My oldest coupler isn't from the '50's, but it is from 1980. It's been dropped onto the concrete floor of my workshop, kicked across the floor, has had a wood board set down on it, and I'm sure other "abuse"; more times than I can count, and all by accident, of course. But it refuse...

How Hot Does My Shopsmith Headstock Run?

I run my Shopsmith in Overhead routing mode for about 45 minutes at high speed. I use an infrared thermometer to measure to the operating temperature. How hot did it get.
