Carter Stablizer works Great on Shopsmith Bandsaw

Yes, It took a long time to install. The instructions were almost non-existant, just a bad picture. I called Carter and someone walked me throught it. I could now do it in a couple of minutes. You would need to remove it for resawing.

Why Carter Stablizer

Good review here that explains why you want a stablizer. It is for small blades not much over 1/4". The basic problem is very small blades don't have enough surface behind the teeth for other guides to work well.

Carter Stablizer works Great on Shopsmith Bandsaw

Anybody use the carter stabilizer for shopsmith? I purchased a set on ebay and it works much better then "Cool Blocks". The installation instructions are TERRIBLE, and they don't work with very large blades. I called Carter and the excellent service tech walked me throught installation, y...

Small Turnng with Lift-Assist

I am not using the standard toolrest, I am using the upgraded toolrest (which I strongly reccommend) and it overhangs the carriage making the problem much worse. You need a "Live Center", Shopsmith sells one for $30 (505602) but is lacking features you will need eventually. The tailstock is a standard #2 Morse Taper and lots of companies make kits with many different tips. Use Google or eBay and search for #2 "live center". I own this one...

Whose dumb idea was this?

Originally it was listed with "Shopsmith" items. New rules say that any product listed as "Shopsmith" must be directly a Shopsmith product. This is not. I found it again using the generic search I listed. It popped right up. So if you want to find 3rd party items made to work wi...

Problem with SMALL turnings and Universal Tool Rest

The Shopsmith Lift Assist You will also loose 2" travel for the table at the right hand end, due to the fixing blocks, but in practice this is rather insignificant unless you want to turn stock right to the limit of the Mk Vs capability. I don't understand your point about limiting size of tur...
