Re: Is the Smart Motor Speed Dial Ring, Back-Up Spring, part# 504196

It's still a headstock. At least in lathe mode it is. I've never heard of the power head on a drill press or other tools referred to as a headstock that I can recall. I don't see the problem calling it either a 'Smart Motor' or a 'headstock' in the right context.

Re: Table Saw Cutting Funny

I guess you could try cutting a piece of plywood to see if it's the saw and not the wood.

Re: New Owner

Are there any specific tools I will want to bring on Saturday? I've seen reference to a long handled Allan wrench. I'm assuming all bolts and connectors are imperial measurements? The only tools you should need are pliers and a screwdriver to remove the legs. 5 screws hold each leg to the base cast...

Re: Control sheave loop repair

Cool solution. Ball point pen tubes have a lot of uses, some I don't want to mention here or admit knowing about, but this is a good one.

Re: New Owner

Is there a fence? I see chuck keys but no chuck. Did you get saw guards?

I was thinking that but the main and extension tables have the locking mechanism for connector tubes.

Clearly not a Mark 7, but what indication is there that it's a 505 instead of a 510?

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

Sorry, not sure I'm following this. Are you saying buy one of these assemblies, pull the bearing off, and then install that bearing on the SS Idler shaft? Looking at the Amazon drawing, there doesn't appear to be an inner race, meaning it is truly integral. I can get it apart, but I don't think it ...

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

If you can chuck the shaft into something and hold the outer race of the bearing while it spins you should not feel any vibration. That bearing can be replaced. I've posted sources for it here on the forum somewhere... The last link I posted was on eBay, no longer active. Here's another one on eBay,...

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

If you have the old style idler with a water pump bearing I wouldn't expect it to spin freely for long. It's not a fidget spinner bearing.
