Sounds like a job for an intern. The kind of work that no one really wants to do, but is needed none the less.

"Days" of Savings

Not sure I quite understand SS's current sales initiative. At first I thought they were going to have 12 consecutive days of deals where the deal changed each day. Now it looks like each sale is going on for ~3 days, but I haven't kept track so not sure what it is exactly. I've been watching it to s...

Re: Lathe tool rest arm cracked

So I found this one on ebay , that has a full threaded post. I hadn't seen that before and wanted to ask about it. Does this come from a much older Mark V? Most of the posts that I see only have partial threads down one side. Seems to me like full threads would allow it to spin in the holder much ea...

Re: Lathe tool rest arm cracked

Where his broke is the same place mine did, just not nearly as bad. Took some pictures this morning. As you can see, the crack extends down both sides and leaves the tool rest just loose enough that it moves around even after you tighten the wing screw. It's cracked just enough that it's loose, but ...

Re: Lathe tool rest arm cracked

There is a larger hole in the tool rest arm opposite the set screw that holds the tool rest in place. I figured they did this to handle shorter length drill bit and tap for the manufacturing process, but it makes it weaker.

Lathe tool rest arm cracked

Was using the lathe a while back and the tool rest arm cracked. Sorry, no photo at the moment. The casting cracked where the tool rest inserts into the arm, from the clear hole on the side that was likely used for drilling/tapping the screw hole in the arm around to the top of the arm where the tool...

Should we be concerned?

I started my woodworking hobby with a borrowed Mark V for about a year (back in 2012 to build nursery furniture for my first kid), went to other tools, and eventually my wife got me a Mark 7 + planer in early 2020 (pre-covid). Since getting my Mark 7, I have noticed a slow but steady decline in the ...

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

To be honest, I wasn't the buyer of my M7 & planer. My wife decided that I wouldn't ever spend that kind of money on myself, so she went and got a gift card to cover the amount. We actually had to call SS to let them know that no, it wasn't a typo. Looking back, no, I still wouldn't have bought ...

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

There is a temporary set-up issue with Amazon that we are working to resolve. This is making items show as currently unavailable. Thanks for the quick response and explanation. I really wasn't expecting it. Are there plans to offer more of the smaller accessory items on Amazon? Things like the mite...

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

All of the products in the "Shopsmith's Store" on Amazon are now "currently unavailable". Went there last night to see what the shipped price of a coupler was by itself and even though a picture would show up under the heading of "related searches", the product never sh...
