I used a wire brush wheel on a grinder to get the old tires off and thought it worked very well. Kevin Me too. I've removed 3 different sets of old tires, and never had a problem. I use the corner of a screwdriver to peel/pry/pull the tire away from the wheel in one spot, then stick the screwdriver...

Depending on how deep the dent is, you might check with a local machine shop about re-surfacing the whole table. If the dent isn't as deep as the ribs, they can probably mill it flat again for a few bucks, or heat it up and straighten it. If you just start whacking it with a hammer, it's probably go...

I had one that screamed a little bit when you were using it, but it was quiet just sitting there running. Turned out the upper bearing behind the blade was dry. Like reible said, try backing off on the guides a little and try it again. You should be able to find the noise by elimination. Loosen them...
