How long do you need it? Firewood is a great source of inexpensive hardwood. But if you need it longer, you’ll have to get it before it is cut short, and it will probably be green.

The oscillating drum sander add-on and a 6" sanding drum. I haven't used them yet, though. Also a replacement feed motor for my Pro Planer. The list of Shopsmith stuff that I want, but don't already own, is now vanishingly small.

RFGuy, that page you linked is exactly where I learned what I was doing wrong with the bowl gouge. There's a video embedded in the article that clearly demonstrates the correct tool presentation. Suffice it to say that mine was not even close! :eek:

Dennis, Beautiful work! Thanks for reminding us of what can be created on Shopsmith equipment. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to try a bowl that large yet as I continue to hover around the 8" diameter range until my skills improve more. Also found the branding iron suggestion really usefu...

Aha! I wondered why no one had mentioned the dog face. I guess you just had to know old Tucker in order to see him in the bowl.

Yup. With a Shopsmith, you can fixture just about anything, to anything else. And if you can’t, you can use it to make the necessary fixture!

I'm curious, David. Did the glue in the finger joint fail, or did the fingers break off? It seems to me that the weak points would be at the ends of the fingers. Because the fingers don't taper to a sharp point, there's a fairly large percentage of the wood that's basically just in a butt-joint conf...
