Re: Springs on the Shopsmith Double Bar Clamp

Ace hardware store usually has a good selection of springs. If you can not get a perfect match consider replacing all of them. I don't think that the spring tension is very critical but it may be better to have them all the same tension.

Re: Favorite/essential jigs?

Yes the miter gauge remains at 0 deg. I used this jig when I have segments that are too high to be cut safely using the miter gauge for the angle. By laying the segment flat and then cutting the angles on each edge of the segment the segment can then be stood up on end with the angled cuts forming t...

Re: Favorite/essential jigs?

I like my Tweaker, when I cut segments for turning or any other projects that require tight angle tolerances. By adjusting the connector nut while the table trunnion lock is loose the exact angle down to one tenth of a degree can be set. First set the table 90 degrees to the saw blade then put the W...

Re: Econo vs Premium Wheel Upgrades for your Shopsmith Casters: Are They Worth It?

I have the premium wheels and like them a lot. One word of warning, if you push the machine keep a hand on it. It moves easily but it does not stop so good. I gave mine a push when I first put the wheels on it and it almost rolled out of my garage. Had to chase it. Would have been a lot of grief if ...

Re: new guy - new / old machine

I don't think that the autotrack bearing has a worn mark on it. That bearing should be two bearings stacked together and the groove is where the two bearings stack together. The blade should be tensioned and then the bearing bracket can be moved so that the groove is directly behind the spine of the...

Re: Rip fence skew adjustment

I leave the rip fence parallel to the table miter slots. If you want to cut a taper use a tapering jig. Probably safer. When using your table saw function you should always perform the five point safety check. Table tilt lock, carriage lock, table height lock, headstock lock and quill lock. Once you ...

Re: Varnishing a Handrail

I have used the wipe polyurethane on some bowl turnings with great success. The Power pro turned down to 250 rpm and then reduced 7 to 1 with the speed reducer yields about 35 rpm and makes the wipe on easy to use.

Re: Nova slide jaws (no numbers found)

I have been hesitant to reply on this thread because I don't now own a G3 chuck. I used to have one but I did not like it compared to my Oneway chuck. The Oneway chucks do have numbers on the carrier jaws that mount in the body but do not have numbers on the work holding jaws. The work holding jaws ...

Re: sawstop

Just a general reply to the group. We did check the material being cut and debriefed the operators who experienced the problems. All the wood was dry and the operators were not doing anything improper. We have 24 hour video and audio monitoring anytime anyone is in the shop. To answer JPG The club h...
