Re: Cateract Surgery

Glad it went so well for you guys. The doctors are saying it is in the cards for me too, at some point. I have noticed that headlights at night are more of a problem than they used to be...partly the new blue lights and partly the old eyes. Hearing your stories about what an improvement the surgery ...

Re: Shopsmith Miter Pro

" the right angle center of the Miter Pro is adjusted snug up to the blade you will be using". ? ? ? I think he's talking about the alignment procedure shown in the manual Russ linked to. He probably meant to write 'right angle corner'. Exactly right. I guess I knew what I was talking abo...

Re: Shopsmith Miter Pro

Been working great on my 500 for years. It is a great jig. Just a couple of details you will need to attend to: Make sure the 500 is aligned as perfectly as you can get it and then take the time to make sure the right angle center of the Miter Pro is adjusted snug up to the blade you will be using. ...
Be thankful that there us no need to itemize. For some, medical expenses make itemizing a must.
I hear you, Dusty. Every year i keep a spreadsheet of medical expenses, just in case the wife and I have a year where we could possibly itemize those expenses. So far, the biggest share o...

Re: Income Taxes - 2023

Thanks, Russ; Oral surgery went well, with the help of a skilled anesthesiologist...thanks for the good wishes. Too bad they can't give you some kind of novacaine before doing your taxes! But, E-filing and computer programs do make things easier than back in the day when we had to fill out the forms...

Sorry to hear that. Hope it ain't contagious! I have all my 1099's in pile, but probably won't get to them until late next week. Oral surgery on Tuesday will interfere with getting my taxes done.

Re: Cross cut sled

As I recall, the SS literature instructs that as the sled is pushed forward it should also be gently pushed laterally towards the side of the miter slot closest to the blade. If this is done consistently, it should eliminate the effects of any "slot slop."

Tissue Box Cover

A few weeks ago my wife found a woven fabric tissue box cover and decided she also wanted one made of wood and asked if I could come up with something. My initial thought was to make it out of red cedar so I could try out the Japanese burned wood style of finishing. But, I really liked the look of t...
