Re: New PTWFE

I have compared the older 4th Edition to this new 4th Edition page by page. I did not read each page in both books but visually compared each page. The only differences I saw was the Shopsmith address on the Publishers page, the picture Fig. 15-13 on page 193 is zoomed out some in the new 4th Editio...

Re: 10ER Table Carriage

I neglected to include the ER serial number prefix when talking about the East and West plants. The East plant used the prefix E than ER than back to E. I am not sure why the ER prefix was used but speculation has it as "Eastern Revised". With all the information Everett has he may find ou...

Re: Machined washers as used on 505506 arbor

The machined washer is part number 501451 and if you type that into the search box when not on the Forum it will come up. They are $4.95 each now plus S & H. I have not found these from any other suppliers.

Re: 10ER Table Carriage

By the serial number it looks like it would have Headstock version 5. Does your have an E or R before the number? I have had S/N R50474 (restored & resold) which has double wedge quill and way tube locks with the keyed quill lock, wide (approx. 3/8") cast on blocks for quill return spring h...

Re: 10ER Table Carriage

John you said
I still can't believe that in 15+ years of watching eBay daily then I have never seen one.
I have one I bought from ebay a while (less than 15 years) back. Some things escape our notice on ebay like small differences in a familiar item.

Re: Need help changing the belts on my Greenie

Opps! It is not an easy process to get it back together correctly. The following link may be helpful. https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?p=32871#post32871 When Dusty said If you should decide to do this, do your homework before tackling the quill assembly. Re: How to I get rid of the rust?

First check under the Maintenance and Repair section for Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More by Everett Davis. This will be one of the first three topics. In it you will find a wealth of information on the Shopsmith tools. Some are directly linked there and others are on “My Goog...

Re: 10ER Table Carriage

Hi John, It is the third version of the carriage. I call it the light weight version. The first two I am sure you are familiar with. The original was the double wedge lock and the second was the single wedge lock. This one came out on the later Model 10ER around the same time as the 1/8" thick ...
