Re: New Power Head issue

Copy of another post about PP issues. Fred I self installed my PP in 2010. I have turned over 100 bowls and produced over 20 band saw jewelry boxes since. The display quit showing anything except for a flash of back light every 3 seconds or so 3 years ago. I've taken the fan off the motor to blow ou...

Re: Power Pro Lifeless

I suspect there would be a booming business in spare parts on e-bay if SS were to go out of business. Most likely, someone would buy up all remaining inventory and do a good business providing parts for years to come. The basic machines will be around for many years and, as long as parts or repair s...

Re: Power Pro Lifeless

Dusty, I think we might have gotten spoiled with our SS equipment. I wonder how long these electronic motors last in other equipment. I wouldn't be surprised if 6 years is the norm. Anything electronic that I have owned, including $5,000 computers, seemed to bite the dust in 5 years. My 5 year old 6...

Re: Power Pro Lifeless

Good news. I just reinstalled my PowerPro after receiving a repaired controller and it seems I'm back in business. My PP gave up the dust 2 years ago and I just got around to sending it in to the mother ship a couple of months ago. After a few phone calls the service department sent my parts back to...

Re: Power Pro Lifeless

Good news. Sue just called from SS to inform me that my controller needed a board and that my parts are on their way back. They also had to do something to the display unit, they said it was flashing. SS sends all PP parts back to the manufacturer for repairs. The total cost, including shipping, is ...

Re: Power Pro Lifeless

Ok, things are looking up now. I just got off the phone with Sue at SS and she found my display and power supply that I sent in in May for an evaluation. For whatever reason it has just been sitting in the shop. Sue has assured me that she will be sending the parts to the manufacturer for repair. Su...

Re: Power Pro headstock cooling

I turned over 100 bowls and cut out over 30 bandsaw jewelry boxes from 2010 to 2015 without ever getting a overheat warning. However, my PP bit the dust in 2015 with no error message on the display. I have sent the display and power supply in to SS but haven't heard back from them in over 3 months. ...

Re: power pro in for repair building backup headstock

I sent my display and controller in about 2 months ago. Called again a few days ago and was told Bryan was out for the past 2 weeks on sick leave and they didn't know when he would be back. I suspect the PP repairs are stacking up. I had my second 500 headstock modified to run in both directions a f...

Re: Power pro problems and no response from SS

I'm not very smart but I had a great solution to the loose screws issue. I used super glue on every nut and bolt and screw in my 520 and PP and nothing has come loose yet :)
