I know I personally have made changes in my spending over the last years. One was my retirement, where once I could spend about $300 a month on hobbies and still fork over more $$ for a larger item when I needed it. Those days are gone. Now I plan for the next year and each year the tool budget drop...

Hi, I can't address all of these posting because I have the old model. However the "head" assembly is for the most part the same as the orginial ones like mine. When I got mine it came in box stuck together with bubble wrap and tape and taken apart. No insturctions included... yea an ebay ...

I know that this reply is old, and you have probable finished the project by now, but another fix might have been to install a threaded insert that did fit the holes you drilled and use Helicoils to reduce to 10-24. Say speaking of sanding stations I heard they might be on sale for like $50 off and that they make come with a few extra thown in. I didn't get the email but I say it at the yahoo group.
