If your talking about the sheaves behind the spring and in front of the motor. It's held on with a setscrew, accessed through the hole in the bottom of the motor shroud. Check the sleeve that holds the sheave away from the motor.

Also if you breathe into the can before ya seal it. That replaces the air with C02, which should prevent drying of the wax.

You DID loosen the set screw on top of the unit? The one covered in putty.

I coat the drums with talcum powder, so they slip on/off easily. Are the nuts fully loosened?
