Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available' - 10ER w/SC(?) & Jig Saw $250

It looks like it has a speed changer, but either the pulleys are missing, or just removed and not being used.

Re: 500 versus 510 Lower Saw Blade Guard

You're welcome. I too bought my 500 in the early 80's, and as new models came out, I didn't pay too close of attention to the incompatability of some of the accessories as I was satisfied with what I had and have stayed with the 500. Only after many years of using my 500 and needing help with some m...

Re: 500 versus 510 Lower Saw Blade Guard

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the arbors for 505/510/520/Mark 7 machines are longer than the arbors for a 500 machine. You can order the correct arbor for your 510 from Shopsmith, or you can frequently find them used on ebay or Craigslist. A word of caution: Not all sellers are aware of the differences...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available' - MARK V 500 with extras $525

http://houston.craigslist.org/for/5973741546.html Perhaps not as great of a bargain as compared to many finds I see others post here, but a Mark V 500 listed for $525 in what looks to be fair condition. With several accessories not metioned in the description but visible in the pictures, such as a r...

Re: Riving knife alignment

I own a 500 (not a 520) so not familiar with its saw guards and riving knives, BUT, could it be the arbor itself? Yours looks similar to one I have for blades with a 5/8" mounting hole. It is at least 10 mm longer than my Shopsmith arbors for blades with 1 1/4" holes.

The assembly (or dis-assembly) instructions are also available as a pdf on Shopsmith's website, to help you know what tools to take and how it comes apart.
