Re: Magna model ER

I restore Shopsmiths as a hobby. Because of their age all the Model 10E and 10ER's I restore get new cords and a switch. Depending on the motor the new wire connection goes to a terminal or spliced to the wire the cord is attached to. For the ground wire I use a ring terminal and attach it under the...

Re: My latest 10ER acquisition

Everett, you said Can't keep original what was not there. No casters or holes existed, but they should have been in my mind. I understand you can't keep what was not there original. When my 10E S/N 1077 was made the bench ends and retractable casters did not exist yet but I built it's bench with the...

Re: Magna model ER

Eric, It is actually a Model 10ER. For some reason when they changed from the Model 10E to the 10ER they only put ER on the Logo/Serial Number Plate. It may have been done to save redesigning the printing on the plate since 10ER would not fit in the space 10E did. Later it was redesigned and Model 1...

Re: My latest 10ER acquisition

Everett, Are you sure you want to upgrade the retractable casters to 3" instead of keeping them original? Changing the casters will require drilling new holes. Does this Chrome 10ER have a Serial Number? Do you now know if it the same one Bob Chambers is standing next to in the picture? Remembe...

Re: miter slot measurement

The Table that Dusty gave the measurements is for the "T" Slot found in the Mark V with the larger table systems of the Models 510, 505 (a 510 without the floating tables), 520 and the new Mark 7. The Mark 5 and Mark V with the original, now designated 500, Table uses the same width and th...

Re: My latest 10ER acquisition

Everett,
Glad you were able to get it home finally. I'm sure you have the perfect spot to display it. Look forward to hearing how well it "purrs" when running. Also did you get my PM?

Happy for you

Re: New owner 10ER restoration

As shown in the ebay ad from karenhenks, which is actually her husband that does the Shopsmith stuff, that is the parts needed for a complete Carriage Lock Assembly. He sells a lot of Shopsmith parts. If you can be patient a cheaper one may come along or try making him an offer to see if he will tak...

Here is a picture of the Floating Center, as it is called, for the tailstock. These are part numbers 104-12R Floating Center and 104-13R Floating Center Nut. 104-12R Floating Center and 104-13R Floating Center Nut r.jpg If you are using the 10ER manual from Everett's google drive the part number are...

Re: New owner 10ER restoration

Hi Matt, Your Model 10ER looks to be fairly complete. Depending upon what is found in the box. Hopefully an eccentric as JPG mentioned. It is like a large bolt and nut with a #2 Morris taper hole through it. I you need a picture to help identify it I can take one for you. As you disassemble your Sho...
