Re: Johnson Paste Wax

I have a an 8 year old can of Minwax Paste Wax which came from Shopsmith with the help kit 515325 Shopsmith Help Kit and is still shown in the picture in the product catalog. Other than the slightly stronger smell of Johnson's, they are indistinguishable from one another functionally. I have both in...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

Minneapolis/Saint Paul area a lightly neglected Mark V 520 with bandsaw for $345. Can't tell if it is from 98 or 08 based on the picture of the serial number. I'd go pick it up but I don't need nor have space for a third 520. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/tls/d/anoka-shop-smith/7626690764.h...

Re: New Generation 2 PowerPro Headstock Touchscreen

I love my Mark V Model 520 and there will never be a Power Pro (any version) in this shop. Sorry, that is just the way it is. I feel the same way. I'm still in the camp that the time proven simplicity of the old headstock outweighs the advantages of the PowerPro. I have two mark 5's upgraded to 520...

Re: Accuracy question

First, check your math. 0.0135 - 0.0090 = 0.0045 not 0.045. Second, that is extremely accurate for woodworking in my opinion. I doubt any amount of fiddling with it would improve the results and you would likely end up further off.

Re: Magnet on a stick

When my girls grew up and were no longer fascinated by magnets, I liberated this from the toy room and keep it in the shop for the same purpose. It's about 14" long but will retrieve the arbor nut from the bottom of my tablesaw. I like yours much better and think I'll probably plagiarize your i...

Re: The Woodshop Curse, Stuff That Does Not Belong There...

I no longer have that problem with my shop. I have about 800 square feet in the basement and after 35 years I have finally convinced my wife not to dump stuff she doesn't want in the shop ... In our new house, it is a much shorter distance to the garage so that's where everything gets dumped now. :(...

Re: 2022 Federal Income Tax

I finished and filed my corporate, payroll, and sales and use taxes at the end of January. IRS is still having difficulties accepting 990 filings for the non-profits I manage.

Started personal, and as usual, it looks like I'll owe a crap ton more money to fed and state than I've already paid.

Re: 2022 Federal Income Tax

Unkown. The IRS is not sure about COVID payments the States may have made to taxpayers. Are they refunds, incentives, or other? The IRS ruled on this today. They are not taxable because they are being classified as "general welfare" or "disaster relief" which are non-taxable eve...
