Re: Table Line Up - Miter Gauge

The parts view for the miter gauge shows the nylon screws (270) but does not show the set screws above them. Reading posts I concluded that all gauges have these. If I back them out until they stop they still block the hole where an allen wrench or 1/4" rod can be inserted. Before I mess somet...

Re: Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

Dusty, I found this link which may be helpful. It could be that the magnetic tape used here is a multi-pole magnet type. If so, it has alternating magnets down the length so trying to re-magnetize it won't work. You'd have to replace the magnetic tape. https://www.hsmagnets.com/blog/parts-flexible-...

Re: Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

I have tried this but I don't sense that the tape magnet is any stronger than it was when I began. Now this might be because I have done something wrong. I passed my magnetic bar from left to right across the tape magnet a half dozen or more times. No obvious change. Polarization of my neodymium bar...

Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

Has anyone been able to re-energize the magnetic tapes used on our 520 tables. Mine are almost useless.

Re: Doing my 2020 taxes

I finally received the final stimulus check but my 2019 ans 2020 tax details are not yet available at IRS.GOV. They cashed both checks very expeditiously but it doesn't show that in the transcrips.

Re: Table Line Up

Basically, yes. But, there has been much electronic ink spilled on this forum discussing just how parallel is parallel and how best to determine it. Yes there has been but is there now a consensus? Sorry to be late chiming in on this thread, but it was a busy weekend. Just wanted to take a minute t...

Re: Table Line Up

Dusty, I am far from being an alignment expert or even a Shopsmith expert for that matter, but I think I see a potential problem with the method you showed using two dial indicators. IF I am understanding correctly you are taking two absolute measurements, one at the front of the disc and one at th...

Re: Table Line Up

It appears to me that you are overthinking this. You should be able to get an adequate alignment by simply putting the factory table insert in the table, lowering the table down with either the sanding disk or a saw blade (make sure the blade or disk has no wobble), and adjust the table so it sits ...

Re: Table Line Up

I set out this morning to go through my alignment procedure, using two dial indicators, and document each significant step. I got stopped in my tracks. I first loosened all four trunnion bolts (finger tight). I then slid the tubes into the rails for rough front to back alignment. I have to remove th...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

I am confused.

Does this mean that modern day electrical features are protecting us in a way that didn't exist before?

Is the new equipment (PowerPro) defective (non-compliant) in some way?

Is it comforting to know that you are not the only one with this issue?
