They are 1/4" x 20 and 1/2" overall length. They also have the "standard" Shopsmith 5/32" allen head.

Cincinnati is correct. The Pro Planer has never received the attention that it deserves. If you can purchase a used Pro Planer at reasonable cost this is definitely your best option. I purchased a MK5 mounted planer in 1984 and it has only needed to have the blades sharpened. I originally used it on...

Chuck: If at all possible, I still recommend going to 240V. You'll get more powerful performance and not have to deal with the GFI's. I still have one conventional Shopsmith and have placed a 240V headstock on it also. I have a Radio Shack intercom between the shop and the house that operates thru t...

As Ryan said, there are many ways to sharpen a chisel. One key thought to keep in mind however is that you need a sharpening method that can be used without having to take your work out of the Shopsmith. My son-in-law uses the Wolverine sharpening guides on an 8" bench grinder. With the grinder...

I'm presently making three long cabinets, two are 6'2" long and one is 8'. I can rip the length of 4'x8' plywood accurately with very clean cuts on the Shopsmith using an 80T Freud blade. I also use four roller stands and have a helper. For the crosscuts, I use Dusty's method, using a straight ...

At a saw speed of 4000 rpm, that tooth will fly off the saw at a speed of 175 feet per second, making it a nasty little sharp pellet that could easily put one's eye out.

I'm in the process of building three large base cabinets for my workshop and garage. Two are 6' 2" long and one is 8 ft. I'm using 1/2" plywood for backs and shelves and 3/4" birch plywood for the tops. With a helper (my wife) I have ripped the sheet goods pretty easily on the Shopsmi...

A few years ago I had problems with the key falling out of the lower (motor) pulley. My solution to this problem was to replace the original steel pulleys with new cast iron pulleys, and new key stock, from Motion Industries. I've had no problems since then.
