Drill press won't go high enough for lock to work
I have a 80’s era Shopsmith upgraded to a powerpro with the double end lift and the lift assist. When using it in an upright position for the drill press it won’t go up high enough for the lock to be engaged. It appears that the casting is too large to let it come fully upright. urethane tires
I don't know about anyone else but I left the wheels in place, but it does take some doing to get the new tires on, so close on several occasions but not quite there then bam, they were on. Well worth the investment in time, effort and money once it's done.

Goo Gone
In addition to the methods mentioned previously - in particular careful scraping with a chisel; I found that a liberal application of Goo Gone helps a lot, first I made a cut across the face of the tire and pulled off as much as possible by hand, then pour on the goo gone, let it sit for 15 minuets ...

Demonstrator????
Even though I got mine second handed from a want ad, you might want to keep an eye out for a demonstrator, they are as good as a new one and quite a bit cheaper than a new one. They aren't always available but that is another option you might think about. Happy sawdust making.

I was just wondering the sharpening angles for chisels for turning, when using the SS sharpening guide, if I recall I was told the tools that come with the SS should be sharpened at 8 degrees the bowl turing set at 4 degrees, what would be the suggested for the pen turing set, and particulary the 9 ...
