True. The diagonals would only indicate a twist. It could still be flat from side to side or front to back at any point.

Re: Table flatness
This thread got me curious about my 1958 Greenie's table, so I just checked it. It has a dip of about 0.002" in the area in front of the saw blade. From the blade back it's dead flat (I'm just using a 2' rule - I don't have a precision straightedge). This doesn't count the table insert, which i...

The Shopsmith 1/2" router chuck https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/rm_routerchuckshield.htm has 5/8" female socket at one end and a 1/2" socket at the other, so I suppose you could mount short lengths (~1" or so) of 1/2" and 5/8" rod in one, chuck the 1/2"...

Re: cutting 2inch male and female wood threads
The Woodsmith video uses a 5 tpi acme all-thread rod. The router bit is a double-bevel metal cutting bit, which makes V-shaped threads; but I guess you could make acme thread by using some sort of slot cutter bit. Getting the right size would be tricky. Unlike V threads, where you can control the wi...

Re: cutting 2inch male and female wood threads
Woodsmith Shop had a show on making lidded canisters with threaded lids, and they cut the threads, male and female, using a router jig. Building the jig is some work, but it can be used to cut threads on work pieces of any size. This web page https://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/shop-made-threading-j...

Re: New Jet "Cyclone Seperator"
The main advantage I see is that it has a much lower profile than the Oneida Super Dust Deputy. But if that isn't important, then the SDD is cheaper and has a proven record.

Re: Is Shopsmith on your Christmas list?!
Another way to look at it is a Model 10 was about 10% of the cost of a Dodge sedan, while the Mark 7 is about 14% of one. I chose Dodge because it's one of the only companies that offered a sedan in 1950 (Coronet) and still offers one, sort of (Challenger), today. But there's a big difference betwee...

Re: Free 10E or 10ER Parts
Stew, if you take the parts to a local UPS store, they can give you a quote to pack and ship them. Then if you have a deal, drop the parts off at the store and give the recipient the local UPS's phone number. The recipient can arrange and pay for the shipping themselves. The local store should be wi...

Re: Cordless Power Tool Battery Prices
The price of lithium has tripled since Fall, 2021, so I don't think we're going to see lithium battery prices come down much in the near future unless we adopt new chemistries that use less of the stuff.
