Re: Prevent or correct tool marks when turning
Hard maple, right? Especially hard to not have tool marks at end grain with the carbide easy wood tools. I’m fighting the same battle. Re: Pipe Clamps using electrical conduit?
I’ve only used black pipe, it is strong, cheap, and was in the instructions (Pony clamp heads) if I recall correctly. Good stuff but heavy.

Re: question on 2 bearing quill
Just to clarify, for those who didn't follow the link to the main Shopsmith page, the plastic piece being referred to above is not the splined coupler on the drive sleeve, but rather the large white cone on the back side of the quill shown in the picture below. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/ca...

Can't imagine why Shopsmith would not have supplied the tool rest with something like this to begin with except for cost savings. These work very well and are about the same price point as the replaceme...

Re: EWT Lathe Chisels on sale
I like my easy wood tools quite a bit! Just finished this rack to make a home for them, along with my Shopsmith steel tools.

Re: Dead brand new Powerpro
Would be nice to hear what exact screw and connector were problems during the owner upgrade. Maybe a warning in the instructions at those steps. Glad to hear it is fixed!

Just watched a video of using a single bead bit, running the wood through twice to get a similar result.
