While in the midst of a rip cut in 3/8 pine, my MK V up and quit. Just like the switch was turned off. Checked power from the outlet. All good. I suspect a loose wire internally. Hoping a visual inspection reveals the cause because my diagnostic tools are still packed away...in one box or another.

I've been quite satisfied with the Harbor Freight vertical or horizontal toggle clamps. At $5.00 a pop, they're a good buy compared to the $17.00 Destacos.

Thanks, Dusty. I wanted to search the forum for a solution to a minor problem. But, I finally figured it out on my own. Kinda like the old days. It felt good.

I embedded an 8' length of T track in plywood and, attached a short piece of the corresponding insert to my Skil 77. Works great for sheet goods as well as lumber. Can't break it down so, it's a bit cumbersome to store. But it's accurate and cheap.

I tend to approach woodworking like a manufacturing process. But others enjoy hand-fitting parts, and/or have learned techniques that let them make perfectly-fitting assemblies without ever taking an absolute measurement.
