Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

I think it’s one of these from the late 1950s Magna-Line catalog.

Share your Magna memorabilia!

In addition to restoring and using old Shopsmith tools, I've also enjoyed collecting Magna/Yuba-era memorabilia - complete-in-box accessories, documentation, marketing materials, books, magazines, retailer items, etc. Unfortunately, no one in my family shares my enthusiasm for this collection, so th...

Re: For those who have sought a wellness check on me

Everett - great to hear you’re still keeping an eye on the goings on here. I’ve been trying to reconnect with you of late, as I’ve gotten more serious about organizing my collection of Shopsmith memorabilia (pics show SOME of it…) and documents, and I’m trying to figure out if there might be any eff...

Good point! Thanks for the warning...

Re: 1954 Mark V Restoration Project

I recently bought a 1956 Magna Band Saw and it's cover was in pretty good shape. After cleaning off a few little paint splatters I used a plastic polish on it and it looks much better. Not real shinny but not dull either. At some point I may touch up the silver paint on the "M" logo. Russ...

Re: 1954 Mark V Restoration Project

Based on the recommendations I’d seen, I used the Rustoleum hammered verde green, which appears to be a little bluer than the original color, but interestingly matches the color on the 1954 brochure quite nicely! I also used the “light green” touch up paint (unfortunately not hammered...) from Shops...

Re: 1954 Mark V Restoration Project

Good timing on this thread! I just finished up reassembling my 1954 restoration project last weekend (SN 263705), and was hoping to show it in front of some interested parties. I've had a lot of folks suggest I take the next step and upgrade to a 520 table system and/or the dual-tilt mechanism, but ...

Re: Production date of a miter grip?

Thanks for the insights on your machine. As I mentioned, I’ve been restoring a 1954 model and have been lucky enough to have a 1955 model side by side as the restoration progresses, and it has illustrated some very interesting changes in parts between the model years. I’ll post some comparison pictu...

Production date of a miter grip?

Had a great weekend to work on my latest restoration project (1954 Mark 5), and had a part (miter grip) arrive in a very timely fashion from an eBay vendor. I'm still discovering some of the variations in design for the earliest Mark 5's compared to later models, but had never seen this variation be...

Re: How far back do the early Mark 5 serial numbers go??

Wish I could provide more insights... I did reach out to the Craigslist poster with no response, and unfortunately our distance (I'm in the Boston area) precluded getting a first-hand look. Hopefully the buyer will appreciate its uniqueness!

Thanks for your response,
