Re: 520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
I often will move the quill a tiny bit once the fence is close.

Re: 520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
Thanks, John. This is more or less what you said in that old post I found and it helped me get things tightened up properly.

Re: 520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
Well, playing with both front and back locks, I think I've got the fence locks as solid as one can. The problem surfaced while horizontal boring. First thought it was the table carriage moving but I tied the main table to the extension table with tubes and could clearly see the fence moving laterall...

Re: 520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
Yes the lock handles should go all the way down. It is kind of like an over center action. Tight, tight and then it snaps down all the way. lol, I was just reading an old post of yours about this where I understood you to say a properly adjusted fence handle does NOT go all the way down and basical...

520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
My 520 rip fence is creeping and I believe the locks need adjustment. I'm looking for the procedure in my manual and can find it. Obviously there are nuts near the lock mechanisms that can be tightened and loosened, front and back, but what is the proper adjustment procedure? Should the handles go a...

Re: Belt Sander Question
I think the mystery is solved. Removed the new ceramic belt and I put on some old A/O belts. I had to adjust the two bolts that the idler drum cams ride on down significantly to do so. But once I did, the old A/O belt tracked fine and was against the back up platen. Tried to reinstall the new cerami...

Re: Belt Sander Question
The belt is running true side-to-side. But by no means does the belt run against the platen from top to bottom. Maybe a 3/32nds gap when I don't push a work piece against it. Is that normal?? There should be a couple of spacer washers under the platen at each mounting screw location. Could these be...

Re: Belt Sander Question
Mine, mid 80's, has always had firm contact with the platen whenever the belt is tensioned. I'm not saying it's right, but it has always been that way. - David Helpful, David. I'd love to get confirmation from one or two others members. The new belt I mounted is one of three brand new belts from Sh...

Re: Belt Sander Question
Can you mount a belt to see whether when properly tensioned, either static or in motion, the belt is fully in contact with the platen?
