Belt Sander Question

When the belt sander is set up and operating properly, should the sanding belt be in constant contact with the platen, top to bottom, even when you are not pushing a work piece against the belt?? I've just had mine completely apart for maintenance (first time in a decade). I pulled a lot of sanding ...

Re: WHERE Y'ALL AT???

They are literally dying from old age. This forum is used primarily by old folks now that don't want to change. Even though I am 72, I rarely look at this forum anymore. Statistically over 75% of people in all age groups are using Facebook Groups and Youtube primarily now. That is where I go. Accor...

Re: FORUM LINKS

Oh, I figured that links that referenced the mothership for parts #s, diagrams, etc., were busted, but I didn't realize that the threads that internally reference or link to other threads are broken, too. That is a real shame.

What have you purchased from Shopsmith recently?

In my personal efforts to keep Shopsmith afloat, I have recently made my first new purchases from Shopsmith in some time: 1. A replacement part for the oscillating drum sander (essentially a length of braided steel wire with loops at the ends). 2. Some 6" ceramic sanding belts on sale. (FYI, co...
