Bob;
I have a drilling fixture that I use for pen blanks posted on the SSUG.ORG website. Go to the Gallery and under the Jigs and Fixtures look for Bill Van's pen drilling jig. It is shown on a SS 520 fence but could be modified to fit a 500 or a 510 fence.

Hi Guys; I had this same problem with a bandsaw that I acquired for my son's system several years ago. The standard SS 5/32 allen wrhench was incapable of loosening the setscrew even after soaking the area with WD40 and several other penetrating oils. The SS 5/32 wrench would twist and the torque ex...

Dusty, 8Iowa and all; I was using the standard SS splitter and all guards were in place. The kerf closed behind the splitter and off the outfeed side of the table. I think that the problem was partly due to the fact that the splitter is narrower than the saw blade. When the kerf at the beginning of ...

Saw blade binding
IU was recently cutting some southern yellow pine for banding around a new workbench top when I ran into a problem. My SS 520 which started life as a 1983 500 bogged down and stalled while making a rip cut in a piece about 4 feet long. I backed out of the cut slightly and the blade came back up to s...

Hi Gang; Several years ago I removed the bearings on the jointer shaft by using a Wonder Bar ( AKA universal house key, AKA pry bar ) by putting the cutter head in a vise (after removing the blades) and putting the straight end of the bar behind the bearings. I expected a lot of resistance but when ...

Beeg; Yes I do have a DVD player and a CD burner. The pop up message appears when I try to run SS DVD's. I have run other DVD's in the past. Is there a new encoding on the DVD's that are produced today that requires a special decoding program? I have installed the latest from Microsoft but no improv...
