Re: The ProStop Digital Fence System
" do you have to be careful to not apply side pressure to the handle when cutting? " Or apply consistently directed side pressure? I have not noticed any issues but I have not specifically look for any either. When cutting 1" pieces and then measuring them with digital calipers to ze...

Re: The ProStop Digital Fence System
Look at the 7:52 mark in the first video. It shows the encoder and scale in very close up detail. The rails can be cut by the user or by the company before shipment. I saw no reason not to let them do it and be responsible for any issues in cutting through the scale.

The ProStop Digital Fence System
I have been using the ProStop for a few weeks and now have a good feel for how it preforms. If you are interested have a look at these videos which do a good job reviewing its setup and basic capabilities. Re: A Fixture Board Strategy for Machining Small Parts
I am 'amused' at the reference to today's 'tempered' hardboard compared to yesteryear's tempered 'masonite'. It ain't nowhere as hard! I have found that tempered hardboard that is finished on both sides (smooth) is pretty hard. Much different than the hardboard that is finished on just one side.

Re: A Fixture Board Strategy for Machining Small Parts
It is time to take a look at some actual clamping techniques using the clamps and stops discussed in the last installment. First is the most basic task of cutting a small work piece to length. For this I establish an accurate known point which I call the primary stop with one of my larger brass stop...

I used a separate switch so I would not have to power the saw through the vac. I have read that power from the vac constrains the Kapex motor and can lead to problems.

Re: Prem Caster upgrade fail
I agree with asking Shopsmith to do something about this. They are called premium casters for a reason and should be held to a higher standard than the standard ones. Shopsmith probably uses a vender for the casters and may have the ability to ask for a replacement.
