Re: Heath's Woodworking Projects

I set aside woodworking for other interests for a while. Getting back in to it and reviewing this thread was quite a joy. Rediscovering old projects, remembering working on them, the stories behind them, and the associated memories of the times. Posting my projects here is mainly for myself rather t...

Re: Your Account Has Reached the Upgrading Stage.

"Your account has reached the upgrading stage" is some rather odd phrasing that indicates a scam to me.

Re: telescoping coupler

Sorry for the delay on this. My time hasn't been what I thought it was going to be! I have managed to make a couple tests, but I still need to make some adjustments. I'm working on it, just slowly.

Re: telescoping coupler

Seeing Star Wars tonight. In the theater waiting for it to start. I may get home from work tomorrow in time to print and test the fit. But it may be Saturday. The benefit to the telescoping that I see is to use with shorties. When I cut the tubes on mine, I left them long enough to slide the carriag...

Re: telescoping coupler

I just build a model for this in my CAD software. I should be able to do a test print this weekend and can send some out for the price of shipping to anyone here that wants to test it.

Re: disassembling a Shopsmith 10ER

The 10ER manual describes a 4-step pulley as part of the Jointer Mounting Kit for mounting the jointer to the 10ER. But I don't know anything about it being 2 parts. How are the parts divided? Is one part the original 3-step pulley and someone possibly added a single larger pulley? Or is it two 2-st...

Re: disassembling a Shopsmith 10ER

I ran into some of these same issues when restoring my 10ERs. The Harbor Freight bearing puller should work just fine. It's what I have and use and I wish I had it when I was first doing my restorations! On my 10ER that I have dedicated as a lathe, I never could get the pulley off the shaft on the h...

Re: Question for pen turners

Those of you who don't like CA as a finish on pens, what do you like? I've only made one pen and it was under the guidance and instruction of someone else. We used CA and I was pretty happy with the results. Smooth, shiny, and very durable.

Re: Mark V as Lathe - using weights and speed reductions

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy got pretty low speeds on his Mark V by using a separate motor with a small pulley along with a pretty large pulley on the left (rear/auxiliary spindle) long enough to get the wood turned round and balanced enough to use the faster "slow" speeds of the M...

Question for pen turners

I'm pricing out my "buy-in" on pen turning supplies and I'm looking at CA glue. There's "finishing" glue, "adhesive" glue, "gap filling" glue in various thicknesses... is there really a difference? Differing thicknesses makes sense to me, but otherwise...? Wha...
