Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

US patents expire 20 years (or less, in certain cases) after their application date (not issuance date). Should SawStop's original patents not be expired by now? No doubt they have others, but those would almost certainly contain claims related to secondary/detail issues, which cannot extend the pro...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

Drop the headstaock! :D Instead of stopping or retracting the blade, maybe SS could go with the impenetrable-guarding approach. This RAS at my local Big Orange could serve as an inspiration. It even limits the universe of RAS operations to the only one approved by Stumpy Nubs! Capture.JPG If you pu...

Being lazy, I'd probably just shift two of the knives by a fuzz (laterally, in opposite directions). If that is indeed the problem.

Re: Jointer Knives

Nice photos! If you run a fingernail down the edge of a jointer knife, does it feel perfectly smooth, or ever-so-slightly serrated? Did you edge-joint that plywood with your new knives, perchance? I’m wondering if the glue lines may have worn tiny divots in the sharp edges of your knives. From the p...

Well, in this photo, at least his left one is still attached to his arm. ;)

That's a beautiful gift, John, and a great idea!

Re: Shop Sweep with Cyclone

Fascinating! Cyclones are typically used on the low-pressure (intake) side of the blower, capturing the large pieces of debris before they can whack the impeller blades. It had never occurred to me that they would also work in reverse on the high-pressure side. But from the perspective of the cyclon...

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

Not sure I'd call the finance terms "outlandish". High-ish maybe but still 1/2 - 2/3 of what you'd pay if you put it on a credit card EDIT: I'd also like to add that I'd be very surprised if SS themselves are providing the financing. No doubt they have partnered with a finance company to ...

Re: Model 510 attachments need information

The infeed table of the jointer appears to be badly bent in the side-view photo. Is it, or is that just an optical illusion? If it's real, I can't imagine what could have done it. The hinge plate that is attached to the underside of the jointer is worth some money. Being cast iron, they break pretty...
