Re: SS Stainless Steel Fastener Upgrade Kit Review

I did a list for the Model 10's Set Screws some time ago but did not include screws, bolts, nuts washers, etc. Some of those parts are very specialized such as P/N A 2333 the Knurled Socket Screw for holding on the Belt Cover on a 10ER. Before that, the Belt Cover was held in place by a simple 3/8&q...

Re: file set for old jig saw

The 3300 series files look like they are the same overall size as the Shopsmith Jig Saw Files so they should work as a replacement. The original files were sold as a set of six. Later 5 files were sold individually. The set of six files are shown in the picture below.

Re: Will a SS Mark 7 Carriage Fit/Work on a Mark 5?

Steve, The Mark VII from the 1960's does have both VII and 7 on it but as JPG said it is best to ignore the 7 when referring to it. I like to add early Mark VII or 1960's Mark VII and current Mark 7 when referring to them. It does get confusing with all the Shopsmith Tools and their "Models&quo...

Re: Lift Assist Gas Cylinder

Dusty, I have the Lift Assist on my Mark 7. The Lift Assist cylinder would be 16-1/2" if fully compressed. It does not sit fully compressed by about 1-1/2" in the down position on my Mark 7 and it measures 18" end to end. Sorry I could not get it to release to measure full extension w...

Re: Serial Number 3068 - Model 10E

The bar for the Extension Table does not look like the original. Yours is longer, spanning the wood top farther. I agree with JPG's comment Interesting washer/nut stack. Not sure what that is for. Those holes hold the pins for the fence to attach as shown in the picture in my previous post. The wood...

Re: Advice on 510 purchase

For your Bandsaw. As JPG said Smacking with anything rarely solves any problem.(unless one KNOWS smacking is required). Remove the retainer bracket etc. and push the entire wheel/shaft/bearing completely out of the base casting. Then determine why it does not go completely in. It DOES have the beari...

Re: Advice on 510 purchase

The springy washer is reference #75 on the exploded parts diagram here on the website. It goes behind the quill lock on the front of the headstock. Looking at the pictures it appears the speed control dial is not positioned correctly if the speed is set at slow for the pictures. This can be correcte...

Re: Serial Number 3068 - Model 10E

It is too bad the Lathe Tool Rest (P/N 105-1) is broken as it is the original two piece version with the screw in post. It changed not long after yours was made. I had S/N 4708 which had the single cast piece Lathe Tool Rest. The broken Lathe tool rest arm (P/N 105-2) is the first of two versions bu...

Below is a link to a thread I started on the Shopsmith Model 10's. If you have not seen it yet you may enjoy reading it. It is titled Shopsmith Model 10's What When and Where. https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=23647 As JPG said Your Shopsmith Model 10E is an early one and likely ma...

Re: Cannot engage spline

Daniel, As JPG said the filling needs to be done on the Drive Sleeve. First try putting this quill in you other 10ER to see if it fits okay and at the same time you could try putting the other 10ER Quill in this new-to-you 10ER's Drive Sleeve. If the results are the same work on the end of the Drive...
