I had the same experience shortly after I started using my VII. After checking out the wiring carefully, I narrowed the problem down to the start capacitor. Mine was a GE motor.

I'm not saying I know what the answer is, but I notice that no one has yet mentioned the possibility of play in the arbor mount. If the bore is larger than the spindle diameter, the setscrew will pull the arbor a little off center, possibly at a slight angle. The fit of the spindle should be tight e...

That arbor should have enough movable spacers so you can line it up where it belongs. The problem is that the arbor shaft is too long to fit the blade into the guard. Yeah, that's what I have. I was thinking there might be a trick one to bring the blade in closer.

Lacking that, can anyone show me a pic of the widening spacer for the Mark 5 lower guard? Looks like I have to find or make something.

A couple more differences come to mind: Also, I expect because of the added torque of the main-table-mounted aux table, the VII main table has two trunnion locks, fore and aft. I'm using the aft one for the first time today. ... it seems like the Mark VII was at least a few inches taller than a Mar...
