Re: Help with Idler shaft bearings
My experience, and this is just a suggestion for deliberation, is that the shaft with bearings is not much more (or at least the same) as buying the bearings alone. IIRC, the assembly is around 70 or 80 dollars and you can easily spend that much for bearings rated for 16000 RPM as that is what that ...

Re: My new business venture
Great news Dennis! I know I am using mine extensively for a lot of jigs. Working on a glue up jig for my floating panels.

Re: Raised panel bits on MK7
@rjent - That's an interesting setup. What advantages does this system give you over just getting a T-slot cutter router bit from Rockler/Woodcraft/etc and closet bolts to match the slot size? I see that there's a bit of a tapered profile on the slot, but wondering what the advantage of it is. Also...

Re: Raised panel bits on MK7
I use my Mark 7/VII all the time for making raised panel doors. I even built a router fence that helps a bunch with my ToolQuest fixturing system. Here are some pictures. I also use the same fence for the large bit for the floating panel but in drill press mode and slowed down to 6000 or less. Works...
Re: GB vs GiB
I have images of an old barber shop, wood fire in a Franklin stove, a couple of spitoons on a sawdust floor and some old farts having a discussion. I was in the computer industry for over 40 years and I always just did the "adjustment" in my head LOL. Methinks a bureaucrat has become invol...

Re: Analof vs. Digital
Microphone/ speakers? Sound is analog (as all natural processes are) and receives the analog sound from microphones (or speakers create analog sound on the other end. Only after the sound is reproduced electrically, it is digitized.

Re: Lift Assist
I agree with chapmanruss. I would not want a Mark 7 without the lift assist. It is one of the many things I love about the old Mark VII. I have thought about getting another LA for one of the other Mark V's, but decided I didn't need it.
I agree with ya Dusty! They are a great option!
