Re: Cross cut sled

As I recall, the SS literature instructs that as the sled is pushed forward it should also be gently pushed laterally towards the side of the miter slot closest to the blade. If this is done consistently, it should eliminate the effects of any "slot slop." Yes. That maneuver does compensa...

Re: Cross cut sled

Dusty, I said previously that I thought trying to do angles would create too much room for error. However, both SS and Rockler sleds have a movable fence for angles so It obviously can be done. How they do it and how it works re:accuracy I don't know. I am using a SS miter bar so there won't be any...

Re: Cross cut sled

That 1/64" over 12" of miter bar engagement with the slot results in a angle deviation of 0.075 degrees. The measured slop determined above will be much much less. Therefore IMO bar/slot slop has a minimal effect. Am I missing something??? Obviously! I suggest that if this thought process...

Re: Cross cut sled

Just waiting to hear how you intend to mount the "fence" so that the angle can be changed.

The miter track is 47/64" wide. How wide is the new miter rail? The slop that you find in this measurement defines the maximum degree of accuracy you can expect from your new sled.

Re: Stop Collars - the accessory I should have bought years ago

I can understand selling the set screws as a separate item ...BUT...selling the stop collar without the set screw is a different matter and especially at the price SS has on items like set screws ($3.99 each). I would be on the phone to customer service immediately.

Didn't we do this recently?
That would be a brilliant suggestion (if it had the intended effect). Others, like me, are easily distracted. Might be those elders amongst us.

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

Not only is the new site up and running but a lot of work has been done to bring it up to date. I especially appreciate the images that are being added to better define what a part number is. Still hoping for part descriptions to b added to items like screw bolt, washer, nut. Again I use the word &...

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

Found my long lost Leatherman but the Swiss Army Knife remains in hiding. My wife might be right. She says I should bring all the tool boxes and other closed containers together in one place, dump them all out and then put the contents back each where they belong. She doesn't understand. If I did th...
