Clearly not a Mark 7, but what indication is there that it's a 505 instead of a 510?

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

Sorry, not sure I'm following this. Are you saying buy one of these assemblies, pull the bearing off, and then install that bearing on the SS Idler shaft? Looking at the Amazon drawing, there doesn't appear to be an inner race, meaning it is truly integral. I can get it apart, but I don't think it ...

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

If you can chuck the shaft into something and hold the outer race of the bearing while it spins you should not feel any vibration. That bearing can be replaced. I've posted sources for it here on the forum somewhere... The last link I posted was on eBay, no longer active. Here's another one on eBay,...

Re: Idler shaft gets super hot

If you have the old style idler with a water pump bearing I wouldn't expect it to spin freely for long. It's not a fidget spinner bearing.

How long does it take to stop? Are you trying it while it's hot?

Re: New Power Station Motor Or Fix It

Just going to second going to a motor shop. Take all the parts and ask for their advice. Motor shops around here have all become more expensive in recent years but the price just to replace the bearings might be very reasonable.

Re: Help identifying parts

Definitely a Mark V 500. Often just called a 500. Almost all parts aside from the table systems are compatible across the line of Mark 500,505,520, and Mark 4 machines. Except for the conventional headstock instead of the PowerPro compatible with the Mark 7 as well. New parts are available from Shop...

Re: Shopmate 5 in 1 tool

The clones are largely compatible with Shopsmith machines, although minor differences are found. The main problem with them is the lack of quality. Good enough for an owner who didn't use it much if it came in good condition but I've heard stories about them never working quite right. Considering th...
