Russ,
I am going to replace the 2 mounting bolts with Grade 8 bolts. Stronger bolt than OEM. Don't want cutter head coming loose.

Re: Jointer Blade Wedges
JPG, If you look at the two picture I posted of the older and newer Cutter Head assemblies you will see two types of wedges. The early one has three holes only for the attachment screws. The later wedges have five holes, three for the attachment screws and two to access the blade adjustment screws....

Re: Jointer Blade Wedges
I went to the hardware store and they do not have anything like the SS washer. But I did find lock washers that were close to the dimensions. I bought a steel, stainless, bronze and a high collar lock washer. Do you think any of these will work?

Jointer Blade Wedges
I am taking apart my jointer blade wedges to sharpen blades and I find washers on all the blade wedge screws except one. I can't find these washers on any jointer drawings. Did the previous owner add these or did they come from Shopsmith. Do you think it is ok to install without the washers since it...

I will never find in my garage. So the question is, what are the dimensions for the wa...

Re: Rusty Jointer
Large parts can be difficult to remove rust from. In this case I would take the Jointer apart the rest of way. You can then work on it much easier. Make a place to put the Infeed or Outfeed/base table in with some rust remover. If the rust remover you use does not effect plastic lay down a piece an...

Wire brush or sandpaper? What grit progression? Then what coating after. Looks like it had black paint.

Rusty Jointer
Need your thoughts on how to tackle my SS jointer. I watched Scott Markwood video on removing rust on jointer and did it with my bandsaw table. But, I got impatient and broke out the wire wheels on my drill which worked great for the tough spots. Is there a negative to the wire wheel approach? How a...
