Re: Im happy I finally signed up

I've no idea of numbers but it happens often enough to be notable, especially when their first post is especially generic.

Re: Im happy I finally signed up

Ok the pattern is this: a "new user" (probably a bot) signs up and makes a single post resembling the above. It's perfectly innocuous and gets forgotten. Some time later the bot comes back and edits the post to insert a spam link in an effort to game search engine results (the more links t...

Re: Im happy I finally signed up

Is anyone advocating banning this poster? I see only that a few folks are commenting that ShellyHi's first (and as of this moment only) post fits the pattern of previous spammers or bots and therefore this post should be monitored. Nothing more. ShellyHi -- we love pictures! Please post a picture of...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

No, a patent does not "prevent" infringement, nor will the Government pay your lawyer-fees if/when you take infringers to court. If General Motors really wants your idea, they will copy it because you can't afford to stop them in court. Or the Chinese will copy it, and try stopping them. ...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

The patent system has inherent problems but that shouldn't be surprising because it's a body of law meant to regulate ownership of ideas that have not yet been thought of. In my opinion the Sawstop patent is overly broad by claiming any method of detecting contact between a saw blade and human fles...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

... I totally agree with the original purpose of the patent system that allows recovery of innovation costs by the 'inventor'. However the patent(s) pertinent here took another path and included not only the 'invention' itself, but also included the entire universe of alternative methods. I find th...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

Their original patents are, but I'm sure there are more that are not expiring and which they will no doubt seek to enforce

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

Even Bosch, a 3rd tier woodworking company today, can get this right on a contractor TS and without it flipping upside down apparently. 2 things worth noting: 1. As stated above, the Reaxx system doesn't stop the blade 2. You can't buy a new Reaxx saw today because Sawstop sued Bosch for patent inf...

Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!

According to Scott Markwood rapidly stopping a Shopsmith blade was tested for some reason, not necessarily for this purpose, and they found that the torque could tip the saw over. The reason was that SawStop was lobbying -- "in the interest of safety" -- that every table saw maker would h...
